We focus on two areas each week:
1. Architecture History - 25% of grade for Instructor Graded Class
Weekly Scrapbook and paragraph.
2. Architectural Design - 50% of grade for Instructor Graded Class
Weekly Project (or two!)
3. Final Project - 25% of grade for Instructor Graded Class
At first, this may seem more like an art class. By the end, it will all connect. Although, it has been proven that each week's assignment can be done in one week, sometimes a student may finish in five days, others in ten. Weeks 1-5 have some flexibility. When you have photographed and turned in your assignments for those weeks, you will receive the user name and password to go onto the next week. (It is fun to have a new surprise every week!!) Knowing the projects in advance will keep you from focusing on the task at hand.
Week 7 begins your final project. This project does have a deadline (three weeks from the date of receiving the Week 7 codes). Architects in the office and in school have deadlines. This is a safe place for you to experiment with facing a deadline. Although, for each day you are late, you will lose 3% of your grade. Challenge yourself to turn in the final project a day or two early! You may have more individual questions during these weeks. Please email your questions. Your instructor will respond quickly if you use the "Final Project" email link.*
You should schedule 6-10 hours a week for this class. "You get out what you put into it." Some students will do just enough to get by; others will go above and beyond. Students are expected to do what works for them, their expectations and schedules.*
If you'd like a little competition... Each month there is a Competition for those of you scheduled to finish their final project that month. You will learn more about this competition in Week 8!!
*Schedules can be altered to fit your needs. Some students have opted for weekly, biweekly and monthly due dates. We want to do what will work best for your student, but once a schedule is created for your student, the hope is that you will encourage him/her to stick to it.
