Biblical Art Course : (for those 11 and older)
High School Courses are highly individual and may begin at any time.
This 9 - 18 week Biblical Fine Arts - Art Course is geared toward students that would like to expand the breadth of their artistic talents. This art course will provide your student with the opportunity to respond to Bible stories or passages through many different types of arts projects. Every project explores a different art form: sculpture, textiles, paint, etc.. all with a Biblical concentration. Art projects are not step by step projects, but projects that require students to allow the Holy Spirit to work through them to lead them to strong artistic responses. For each lesson, students are required to write a short paper, show scrapbook design sketches and complete an artistic response as directed with a few words explaining their creations. Student projects and interpretations are expected to be at the high school level. Students have the potential to create a brilliant AP 2D/3D Studio Art Portfolios using projects from this course.
Lessons are due every other week. There are nine lessons spread over 18 weeks.
Your teacher will not debate or correct students' interpretation of Sacred Scripture from a theological point of view, although ideas and comments may be made from an artistic point of view.
Photos of student work will be posted on a student website for students to see other interpretations.
Students should plan to spend 6- 10 hours on each lesson. Based on about 90 hours of work, it is suggested that students receive 1/2 high school credit for the course.
Tuition: $150 (per student)
Expectations for each lesson:
1. Read and Meditate on the Biblical Passage of the lesson. Write 200-500 words about your reflections on the passage.
2. Projects: - Complete the art project based on the reading.
3. Write about 100 words explaining your artistic response to the lesson.
4. Deadlines are Tuesdayss at 5:30 EST.
If done with quality level high school work, you should be able to earn one high school credit for your efforts (but that is up to your home/school teachers.)
